Mandatory Verification Scope • Mat Grades (matgrades.com)
1. Engineering Reference Purpose
Mat Grades provides engineering reference information compiled from recognized technical literature and published standards. Values displayed across our catalog, comparison tools, and data exports are intended exclusively for preliminary design screening, candidate alloy comparison, and engineering education.
2. Factors Causing Property Variations
Published mechanical properties, physical values, and electrical conductivity figures are subject to significant real-world variability. Material properties may vary substantially based on:
- Metallurgical condition and temper (e.g. annealed, cold-worked, precipitation hardened, quenched & tempered)
- Heat treatment parameters, soak duration, and cooling medium
- Product form (sheet, plate, bar, rod, wire, tubing, forgings, or castings)
- Section size, ruling thickness, and geometry-dependent cooling rates
- Test temperature, strain rate, and measurement orientation (longitudinal vs transverse)
- Standard specification revision dates and international harmonizations
- Individual manufacturer mill melting practices, trace impurities, and grain boundary controls
3. Mandatory Verification Requirement
4. Explicit Scope Limitations
Mat Grades must not represent itself as, and explicitly disclaims being:
Mat Grades does not draft, issue, or officially certify standard specifications. We reference specifications published by ASTM, SAE, CEN/DIN, ISO, and CDA.
Mat Grades does not inspect, stamp, or certify material conformity for commercial compliance, structural aerospace airworthiness, or pressure vessel codes.
Mat Grades does not issue Certified Material Test Reports (CMTR) or Mill Inspection Certificates (EN 10204 3.1 / 3.2). Procurement lots must be verified against actual lot inspection certificates issued by the manufacturing mill.
The data provided on this site does not constitute formal engineering sign-off, professional engineering consultation, or stamping of design calculations.
